Dr. Francisco Dofeliz
Dr. Francisco Dofeliz, M.D. is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Dofeliz comes to our community after completing his Family and Community Medicine Residency at the University Of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in Texas.
A native of the Philippines, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from De La Salle University in Manila before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Luke’s College of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Dofeliz completed his clinical internship training at St. Luke’s Medical Center and did post graduate studies in Biomedical Science (Medical Microbiology) from the Kingston University London in United Kingdom.
As a child, Dr. Dofeliz was astonished by physicians that used such great empathy and sincerity while treating his mother. It was this type of behavior that waivered the associated fear that most children have towards the medical field and can be considered the driving force that pushed him to pursue a career in medicine. It is this type of compassion that also leads him to participate in medical missions back in the Philippines. These types of missions include offering such things as free clinics and checkups to lower income communities. Such missions have helped him appreciate health and learn to maximize the use of available medical resources that are scarce in that country.
Dr. Dofeliz looks forward to the challenges and endeavors that come with this next phase in his career in Family Medicine. He will be bringing his new and fresh medical knowledge and experience to our town and surrounding rural areas. He believes that living in Hawthorne will be a great opportunity for him.
